Port Everglades is next to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and 30 to 45 minutes north of Miami by car. The ferry leaves from Terminal 21, 2021 Eller Drive. For a 9:00 AM sailing you want to arrive by 7:00 AM, so the easiest options at that time are your own car (park at the port) or a taxi, Uber or Lyft.

From Miami

  • By car: take I-95 North to Exit 24 and follow I-595 East, which ends at the port's Eller Drive entrance. Follow the signs to Terminal 21 and the Palm Parking Garage. Outside rush hour it takes 30 to 45 minutes from Miami International Airport; leave downtown Miami by 5:30 AM for a 9:00 AM sailing.
  • By taxi, Uber or Lyft: ask to be dropped at Port Everglades, Terminal 21, 2021 Eller Drive. Every adult in the car shows a photo ID at the port security gate.
  • By train: Brightline runs from Miami (MiamiCentral and Aventura) to Fort Lauderdale station; from there, take a taxi or rideshare to the port (about 15 minutes). Check that the first train of the day gets you there in time.

From Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport (FLL)

  • The port is just minutes away by U.S. 1. The average taxi fare is $18 to $21.
  • If you fly in the same morning, it is risky: the terminal doors close 1 hour before departure. We recommend flying in the day before.
  • Rental cars: the Rental Car Center is at the airport. If you rent a car, you can park it at the port.

From downtown Fort Lauderdale, Las Olas or the beach

  • By car or rideshare: the port's SE 17th Street and State Road 84 entrances are closer, but they only open from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Before 6:00 AM, use the Eller Drive entrance (I-595), open 24 hours.
  • Hotel shuttles: many area hotels offer transportation to Port Everglades. Ask your hotel.

By bus

Broward County Transit buses stop at the Northport area of the port, on SE 17th Street. Terminal 21 is in another part of the port and passengers cannot walk freely around the port, so the bus is not practical with luggage early in the morning. Check routes with Broward County Transit.

Coming back at night

The ferry returns to Port Everglades in the evening (around 8:00 to 9:30 PM on day trips), and U.S. customs takes about 1 hour. If someone picks you up, tell them to wait outside the terminal until you text them. Taxis and rideshares pick up at designated areas outside the terminal.
